We at SEAT aim to predict and shape the future of the automobile. That’s why we are investing heavily in R&D. We committed fully to this approach in 1971, when we decided to create our own research and design centre in Martorell, 30km outside Barcelona. The SEAT Technical Centre was opened in 1975: It gave SEAT complete autonomy in the evolution and application of technical developments.
Over 1,100 highly qualified people from various national backgrounds are at work at our Technical Centre in Martorell. Designers, engineers and other specialised staff all devote their creativity to the conceptualisation, development and testing of new SEAT vehicles. Their tools? The most advanced technologies of computer-aided design and simulations using virtual prototypes. Their goal? To design cars that incorporate customers’ requirements and ideas that will become part of the SEAT range over the coming years – all the while reducing development periods and production cost and increasing quality.
