SEAT has managed to design one of the most eco-friendly vehicles to date, the New Ibiza Ecomotive, boasting a number of innovations that help reduce damage to the environment, without giving up any of its sporting pedigree.

The new Ibiza Ecomotive sets a new benchmark for ecologically-friendly vehicles by reducing the CO2 emissions to a minimum.

Thanks to new on board software and a Diesel Particle Filter (DPF), CO2 emissions have been slashed to a meagre 99 g/km, without any compromise on power or performance, boasting a beefy 1.4 TDI/ 80hp and a top speed of 177 km/h.  The result is a clean, fast response in acceleration and responsible power management.

The DPF, also featured in the car, filters the soot particles given off by any diesel engine to prevent harm to living organisms, reducing the amount of noxious and potentially harmful emissions into our environment. This has also lowered the weighted average of consumption to 3.8 l per 100km.  Meaning driving with a cleaner car… and a cleaner conscience.

Likewise, the weight of the new Ibiza Ecomotive has also been reduced from 1.106 Kg to 1.084 Kg, not an easy task, as SEAT’s starting point was the Ibiza 1.4 TDI/ 80hp Reference, its access level model, already boasting a lighter weight.  Mission accomplished. The New Ibiza Ecomotive’s reduced weight secures fewer emissions and tighter consumption, while being dependably light and with enough room for standard and optional features.

The aerodynamics of the vehicle have also been modified. A sleeker, more agile design means less resistance and in turn less power needed to propel the vehicle. The engineers of the Technical Centre of SEAT have been able to optimise the aerodynamic coefficient of the new Ibiza Ecomotive to a Cx of 0.3.

The wheels have also seen a change with the Dunlop SP10 165/ 70 R14 now being fitted complete with higher pressure (2,9 and 2,7 on front and rear wheel respectively), a thinner tyre that improves efficiency and aerodynamics of the car, while the rims have a steel, closed-design hubcap, allowing a reduction in the diameter in the wheel giving greater aerodynamic efficiency.

Moreover, the levels of comfort and security have not been compromised. The new Ibiza Ecomotive comes standard with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), 3 height-adjustable rear headrests, passenger airbag disconnection, central power lock and power front windows.

The new Ibiza Ecomotive is also available with optional Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), air conditioner, radio CD with up to 6 speakers, volumetric alarm, curtain airbags, cruise control, side airbags, headlight wipers, electrically adjustable side mirrors, front seatbelt electrical pre-tensioners and heated seats, among others.

And all this without surpassing the maximum weight permitted to set the emissions levels of the new Ibiza Ecomotive at 99 g/km.

In fact, being respectful with the environment is not at odds with power, security and comfort. The new Ibiza Ecomotive embodies this concept to perfection.
