Brake pads

Brake pads are the friction pads on a brake calliper that clamp together on either side of a disc brake to slow or stop the wheel. You should have your brakes checked at every tyre change. It is recommended to change brake pads and discs in the 6th year of your vehicle’s life. It is also recommended to perform a technical inspection 3 years after purchase of your vehicle, then revised every 2 years. Our experts check engine oil levels, brake fluid, antifreeze levels, the battery, windshield and headlights. Because nobody knows your SEAT better than we do, you can be assured that your car is in the safe hands of experts who have the latest SEAT training and access to advanced tools and technology when your car is in for service, maintenance or repair. Genuine SEAT Brake Pads are manufactured to the high standards you'd expect from SEAT and come with a 2-year warranty to give you even more peace of mind and assurance. Not only that, but these Brake Pads have been specifically designed to fit your SEAT.

Why do my brake pads and discs need to be changed?

When you brake, the brake discs that rotate with the wheels are gripped by brake pads, slowing the car down. Both discs and pads can become worn and corroded, so it's vital they are checked regularly for your safety.

What happens if they are not changed?

If your brakes aren't maintained regularly, you won't be able to brake as efficiently. As well as reducing stopping power, worn or corroded brake parts can make your car vibrate and become very noisy.

What do we do?

We measure the brake pad wear level. If the pads or discs are worn, corroded or warped we will let you know so we can arrange to replace them. It is not always necessary to remove the wheels to check the brake pads (pad wear/thickness, disc condition), but where a further detailed inspection is required (or if the wheel does not allow full visibility) the wheel(s) may be removed.

How often do they need to be checked?

At least once a year.
