AMETIC, the Multisectoral Association of Electronics, Information and Communications Technologies, Telecommunications and Digital Content Companies, has recognised SEAT with the 2017 Award for Promoting ICT in Spanish Business. The award was received by SEAT President Luca de Meo from Carmen Vela, Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation (Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness) at a ceremony held last night at the Gran Casino Sardinero in Santander, in the framework of the 31st Meeting of Digital Economy and Telecommunications, which is organised by AMETIC as part of the Summer Courses at the UIMP (Menéndez Pelayo International University).
The award is given by the Board of Directors of AMETIC to Spanish businesses which stand out in incorporating information and communications technologies in their respective activities. SEAT fully complies with these criteria, as according to AMETIC President Pedro Mier: “We assessed the decisive boost in applying digital technologies in every brand vehicle (electronics, connectivity, sensors…), as well as its strong innovative character. In this way, ground-breaking worldwide agreements are signed with leading global brands such as those announced at the latest editions of Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress”.
SEAT President Luca de Meo thanked AMETIC for their award to SEAT’s innovation. “Cars are no longer just a method of transport, but a platform which is connected to the digital ecosystem, the second after the smartphone. SEAT strives to be a benchmark brand in connected car and in mobility services to offer our customers an easy experience that meets their needs and desires. This recognition by AMETIC encourages us to continue to promote the digital transformation we are undertaking in our products and processes”.
SEAT has partnerships with businesses associated with AMETIC of different sizes, collaborating on technological innovation projects to develop innovative new products in the global market that can be applied not only by the brand, but by the rest of the Volkswagen Group, an activity which is in line with the strategy that AMETIC promotes. At the same time, the brand is fully committed to boosting car digitisation and connectivity, as can be seen by the transformation of the Barcelona Motor Show (as of this year Automobile Barcelona), as well as the creation of the Connected Hub, a venue which is specifically dedicated to the digital transformation of Vehicles, both of which are initiatives being promoted by SEAT.
Due consideration was also given to SEAT’s commitment to developing and applying new business models in the automotive sector as a result of implementing digital technologies, and in general, its coherent digital transformation policy across all of its areas of activity.Following all of these recognitions, Pedro Mier concluded by saying that AMETIC also wanted to acknowledge the company’s efforts in technological innovation and grant SEAT the 2017 Award for Promoting ICT in Spanish Business.
