In the place of classical underbody protection, we've been making more use of plastic cladding. This effectively protects the underbody against damage due to stone chippings, is lighter and can be recycled, making it more environmentally friendly. In addition, this cladding improves the aerodynamic characteristics of the car body and decreases drag, which in turn means lower fuel consumption.
